Thanks Chris.
It is useful to know the races which aren't to far away.
I am not sure I will be able to manage on 22/03 or 28/03, I am tempted by the last one (LLANTYSILIO MOUNTAIN RACE) which is in april (not March).

More of a trail race than fell, with a start and finish on road and some bridle paths and some grassy off road apparently

Gyrn Gallop report

Set off with plenty of time, got there with minutes to spare, not the easiest place to find (especially if your nav skills are as bad as mine), plus a few accidents on the A483 didn't help.

Lined up near the front, only because the field was small, less than 40, but there looked like there was enough talent to make for a decent race.

Off we went and Adair and an Oswestry runner took the lead and I settled in in the second pack in 5th place.

From the start it's a little over a mile of road and mainly downhill. The course starts to climb on the road and at 1.2 miles you hit the off road at and then it's a none stop climb up until you turn by the trig point at 3.25 miles. The off road is a stony but decent bridle path and then a nice grassy surface.

I'd peaked at 3rd before we hit the off road climb and then was holding 4th, but as the climb went on I lost 3 more places but was managing to hold off a Prestatyn running.

At the turn Des from Prestatyn was just seconds behind me, but the downhill is where I do my best work and this downhill was prefect for some quality descending, nice grassy surface not too rough, plenty of space and not so steep that the hill takes over.

Hammered down and caught up 2 of the lads who passed me on the up, but as I fully expected they both passed me back on the climb up to he finish.

Finishing 7th and 1st V40 in 50:32, I was hoping to go sub 50, but I enjoyed the run so not a problem.

I measure the course at 6.59 miles with 1431ft of ascent.

Post race in the village hall all the cake and sandwiches you could eat for £3 and I got my monies worth

A great course, a great atmosphere. The best race I've done in a ages (ignore the fact I haven't actually raced for ages) deffo recomend this to any one.

There are 3 important aspects to each race.
1. Run well
2. Get a PB
and 3. most importantly BEAT PASHA
