Is there a reason the borders are ran on a Sunday? not sure what others think but I'd much prefer them on a Saturday so I can still do Sunday long run or trail run is this historic? it would be interesting to see what others think.
Cheers

My little theory - 90% of races are on Sundays, and I think the theory is, people in general, probably have family stuff on Saturdays etc etc... shopping etc, so Sunday seems more appropriate.
However, for me, personally, I'd probably prefer them on a Saturday... however, Sunday it is, and I'll have to fit them in this year... trying to get back in shape for them this year... hopefully haven't left it too late...
Cheers Pug

In the good old days Sunday's were quiet days. apart from church nobody did anything and the shops weren't open and the roads were quiet, and to be honest they are generally still quieter than Saturdays. Plus the majority don't work Sundays either, so you'll get a better turnout. I think in a time before everyone a had car and went everywhere in it races were normally on Saturday. Fell races still tend to be on Saturdays, but you don't have traffic problems running up and down mountains.
I'd rather race on a Saturday. but there's no reason why I can't do a long run any other day.

I would say that Mark and Chris are right: On Sunday morning, it is normally quieter on the road and people tend to do other things on Saturdays.
Borders league races are normally once a month so I don't mind missing one long run a month.
Generally, cross country and fell races are on Saturday afternoon and this is quite good. For me, it means I can have few drinks on Saturday night and worrying about racing the next day (I don't worry before a race but I tend not to drink the day before. I have done it beforehand it isn't nice).
Some cross country races are on Sunday afternoon and I don't like it. I prefer to chill out on Sunday afternoon.
So my comment is: I am quite happy with the way things are: I don't think I would like the borders league races on a Saturday.
