There are 3 important aspects to each race.
1. Run well
2. Get a PB
and 3. most importantly BEAT PASHA

Hi Danny
I think everyone is suffering with a cold at the moment. All my family has suffered over christmas. I had to stay in last night because of it, endless coughing and snotty nose !. Will still be there on Sunday, even if i have to jog round!!

Hi Jason,
Found the results in my understairs cupboard don't know how they got there.
............................. Handicap time..........Actual Time
1st Mike Burns............34.35....................24.35
2nd Chris Bennion......34.49....................31.49
3rd Jason Bennett......34.53................... 24.33
4th Dave Nalder.........35.06....................25.26
5th Matt Whitfield......35.13.....................26.43
6th Alison McDonald...35.14.....................27.54
7th Alison Hughes.....35.24......................29.04
8th Jon Cole............. 36.22......................26.42
9th Brian Griffiths......36.44......................27.44

The Hare for the race Chris Bennion put in a sterling effort but managed to get pipped at the post by the fast finishing Mike Burns who was second to last off. Last man off Jason Bennett ran out of steam and despite catching Mike was unable to maintain his form to the end. In a well run race which posed problems for the handicapper due to injuries and lack of racing by members was a close fought race with 7 of the 9 finishing within a minute of the winner. Jon and Brian were clearly having off days and on better days could have troubled the winner. Once again Mike has shown himself to be a star in the handicap race having won and been placed twice in the last four years. ::)

Mike was outside his target time by only 15 seconds so there was clearly the opportunity for someone at their peak to have pipped Mike in the race. Hopefully next year we will have a more substantial field of 20 plus runners as it makes for a better event. Everyone at the club was given a handicap time so all you need to do is turn up on the day. :)

Danny

PS Jason, You can modify this report as you wish for the paper

My floppy ears and long legs have long since shrunk. Recon I was more like an auld git wiv a big shell on 'is back. Enjoyed the experience though - if only I hadn't taken those few sneaky walks up the hill while no-one was looking.... Mike would have had to have run even faster !

Thanks Danny for once more organising the proceedings.

Anyway folks, would appreciate some more contributions to my London fundraising venture. Link below:

You know you want to.....Large or small every little bit helps!

Chris

Jubilee Plunge 28th December 2008 Results

Increased numbers at this year's Jubilee Plunge downhill race from the summit of Moel Famau to Llangynhafal.
Downhill specialists came from far and wide!! Runners could choose whatever route they like and this year Craig Jones found a good line to break the record by nearly a minute.
The ladies race went too with local runner Rhian Pierce of Eryri using her knowledge of the mountain to good effect. Especially encouraging was the number of local runners, including many juniors who thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

1st ........Craig Jones ........11:55
5th ........John Cole ...........13:15
11th ......Rhian Pierce .......14:15
21st ......Alison Hughes .....18:29

Results for the cheshire cross country are:

Nicky Bird 9th lady,
Jon Cole 59th
Dave Nalder 2nd Vet 55 and finished around 65th

Male distance was 11700m and female circa 7k

Cant get into the cheshire aa site at the moment to post the times etc, its very slow.

The conditions for running were good, firm \ icy underfoot, cold to start but soon warmed up ( the spectators didn't though, apart from daniel who looked toasty).

Really enjoyed it for my first cross country.

Might try to post full results later as am off round helsby now

Farndon 10k.
Jon and I did this today as well as Si and Roma. Jon finished in 40.37 and I was 44.12. It was a tough 10k course with quite a few hills. Not sure what time Simon did but Roma was about 55 mins.
Despite the dissapointing time I managed to come in third and got 20 quid for my efforts so was worth turning up.

Sorry, I can't find anybody called Roma, unless she used John Jenning's number.
